Local Xplorer: a Collaborative Platform for Travelling

In Septembre 2017, Anna Koziello, a graduate of Grenoble Ecole de Management, and her associate, Nicolas Pernodet, launched Local Xplorer, a collaborative platform for travelling.

The concept aims to provide travellers with the opportunity to escape classic tourist venues and meet locals in order to live real culturally immersive experiences. Nine months after the platform's launch, the results are promising: 31 immersions, 10 itineraries, more than 15,000 km traveled in Central America, travel guides for each destination, and a community of more than 1,500 passionate travelers who share experiences every day. Immersions through the Local Xplorer platform enable travelers to meets artisans who are open to cultural exchanges. The only form of payment is the rewarding exchange of cultures and experiences. Several travelers have already shared experiences with gold miners near the Rio Tigre river in Costa Rica, potters in Nicaragua, hammock weavers in Mexico, or a salsa professor in Santiago de Cuba. Community members also help build the platform by sharing their experiences. The platform's founders recently took off for a motorcycle trip across South America

Innovation in Education: Call Center Immersion

In May 2018, the Grenoble Ecole de Management Day for Innovation in Education welcomed 700 first year students in the Grande Ecole program. The student were able to live an immersive experience at a call center where they took on the roles of customer service representatives, supervisors and floor managers for a telephone directory company. The experience provided an introduction to management via an immersive scenario that enabled participants to discover three methods of management and understand their future role as managers.


  • Thanh Dao Nguyen GEM ESC 2001 was appointed senior sales manager for French accounts at Descartes, a Canadian supplier of software solutions for supply chains. He began his career as marketing project manager at EADS Matra Datavision before joining SAS. In 2007, he became senior account manager for Motorola Solutions and then global account manager in 2012. After a stint starting in 2016 as sales manager France and southern Europe at ALK Technologie, he joined Descartes mid-2018.
  • Tiphaine Théondon GEM ESC 2003, became innovation, brand & product manager at Kley, a real estate investment firm and manager of student housing. As a specialist of digital and product marketing, she has more than 10 years experience in strategic marketing. She first worked in B2C companies (Habitat and La Halle) before working in B2B sectors with startups undergoing international development.
